Recently, we attended an event by KiwiHarvest, who were marking an incredible achievement – the rescue of 13 million kilograms of food. This effort translates to 29 million meals provided to those in need across New Zealand.
Their ongoing effort to save surplus food every month is nothing short of amazing. KiwiHarvest’s dedication to funneling this much-needed resource back to communities across New Zealand is both impressive and inspiring.
On the left is a visual representation of how much food you get with a $100 donation from a store versus how much (rescued) food you get with a $100 donation from KiwiHarvest.
KiwiHarvest aims for 100% food security in New Zealand, focusing on the essential goal of ensuring everyone has access to necessary nutrition amidst rising food costs and social inequalities.
Like KiwiHarvest, we are dedicated to minimising food waste. We take our responsibility seriously, ensuring as much as we can that the production of our cookies is as sustainable and resource efficient as it can be. It’s not often, but when we do have excess cookies, we redirect these surplus goods to people in need using KiwiHarvest – the process is smooth, and they make it easy.
This approach allows us to connect our products with those who need them and by donating our extra cookies, we not only prevent waste but also support local communities directly. It’s a practical way to contribute to a larger movement and aligns our actions with our core values.
We're honoured to play a role, however small, in supporting KiwiHarvest. Congratulations to the team for their significant accomplishments and the impactful work that lies ahead.
